ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATION - 1020
JOB DESCRIPTION: Assistant Principal, Elementary School
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Kentucky Elementary Teaching and Principal Certificate.
- Three (3) years successful teaching experience.
- Experience as department chairman or other administrative experience desired.
REPORTS TO: Elementary School Principal
JOB GOALS: To relieve the principal of such impediments as to prevent him/her from fulfilling his/her chief responsibility of promoting the educational well being of each student in the school; and to support the Mission Statement of the Estill County School System.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the principal in daily administration of the school.
- Assumes responsibility as chief administrator for the school in absence of the principal.
- Provides supervision of after hours school events and extra-curricular activities.
- Assists the principal and faculty in developing and implementing the school consolidated plan.
- Supervises and maintains records of Extended School Services.
- Performs all duties of SBARC designee for the school; unless, the principal has designated another SBARC representative within the school, and is responsible for being familiar with law and Board policy and procedure pertaining to special education students.
- Assists the principal in data collection for evaluation of staff.
- Assists the principal in enforcing the Student Code of Acceptable Behavior and Discipline from Board policy and school rules for student conduct.
- Meets and serves with parents, faculty and student groups as requested in advancing education and related activities and objectives.
- Assists the principal in supervising the implementation of professional development activities.
- Assists the principal with performance evaluation responsibilities.
- Maintains confidentiality of students and/or staff.
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Days and salary pursuant to district salary schedules.
