JOB DESCRIPTION:          Assistant Principal, Elementary School

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Kentucky Elementary Teaching and Principal Certificate.
  2. Three (3) years successful teaching experience.
  3. Experience as department chairman or other administrative experience desired.

 

REPORTS TO:         Elementary School Principal

 

JOB GOALS:            To relieve the principal of such impediments as to prevent him/her from fulfilling his/her chief responsibility of promoting the educational well being of each student in the school; and to support the Mission Statement of the Estill County School System.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Assists the principal in daily administration of the school.
  2. Assumes responsibility as chief administrator for the school in absence of the principal.
  3. Provides supervision of after hours school events and extra-curricular activities.
  4. Assists the principal and faculty in developing and implementing the school consolidated plan.
  5. Supervises and maintains records of Extended School Services.
  6. Performs all duties of SBARC designee for the school; unless, the principal has designated another SBARC representative within the school, and is responsible for being familiar with law and Board policy and procedure pertaining to special education students.
  7. Assists the principal in data collection for evaluation of staff.
  8. Assists the principal in enforcing the Student Code of Acceptable Behavior and Discipline from Board policy and school rules for student conduct.
  9. Meets and serves with parents, faculty and student groups as requested in advancing education and related activities and objectives.
  10. Assists the principal in supervising the implementation of professional development activities.
  11. Assists the principal with performance evaluation responsibilities.
  12. Maintains confidentiality of students and/or staff.
  13. Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the principal.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:        Days and salary pursuant to district salary schedules.
