The Director, Global investigations services, will be a key member of our Compliance & Ethics team, responsible for implementation and continuous improvement of our global program. The Director, Global Investigations Services, will report to the VP, and will partner closely with our brands to drive effective compliance investigations across the business.
This is not a back-office compliance role; its part of a globally led program where you work will impact five consumer-facing brands (Booking.com, Priceline, Agoda, Kayak and OpenTable), as well as other subsidiaries and a diverse workforce representing over 140 nationalities.
You will be instrumental in managing our concern-raising ecosystem, including the hotline's entire lifecycle from intake to closure. Acting as an internal entrepreneur, you will have the autonomy to innovate within our program and among stakeholders, as well as leverage technology to improve systems that monitor, measure, and report on investigation outcomes. Your strategic impact will be recognized at the highest levels. You will engage with and present to senior business leaders. As a visible compliance and investigations leader, you will also mentor and support a diverse, global team.
This role reports to Mary Dontzin, VP of Booking Holdings. The role is anchored in our hybrid work model (two days in office), designed to provide a vibrant, collaborative environment where you can organically build trust and drive alignment across our diverse global team.
In this role you will get to:
Drive continuous improvement of the investigation program, the management of the investigation docket, and ways of working with key stakeholders across brands;
Manage concern-raising helpline, including intake, triage, and assignment of all concerns with the ultimate goal of continuously improving the speak-up culture;
Leverage technology to enhance investigation program effectiveness.
Play a critical role in defining key investigation metrics and developing and deploying processes, systems, and tools to monitor, measure, and report on investigation outcomes and trends; ensure meaningful and consistent reporting of investigation metrics; drive data analysis to support improved risk assessment by compliance teams
Work across brands and with diverse stakeholders to ensure proportionate and consistent discipline, appropriate remediation, and root cause analysis in the wake of investigations
Develop investigation program presentations, dashboards, reports, and other materials for senior management, business leaders, and other relevant stakeholders
Lead, manage, and partake in other strategic initiatives and special programs
Review and advise on effective ways of working with other functions (HR, Security, Legal etc.)
Monitor the effectiveness of our investigation program in detecting, and responding to potential violations of law, regulations, and internal policies and controls;
Continuously improve and maintain the investigation program consistent with published guidance on effective investigations;
Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements and developments relating to investigations across diverse jurisdictions
Lead day-to-day management of global investigation docket, including oversight of concerns from triage and case assignment to case closure and review of investigation reports to ensure quality and consistency
Engage with senior business leaders and Legal, HR, and other stakeholders in connection with investigation progress, outcomes, and trend reporting
What you have:
JD or equivalent required
Experience investigating complex compliance concerns in a matrixed and cross-jurisdictional environment
Experience designing and implementing company-wide investigation best-practices, including relating to intake of concerns, communications with concern raisers, conducting interviews, and drafting investigation reports that can withstand internal and external scrutiny
Experience supporting diverse and global team
Proven experience driving investigation excellence with large scale global programs
Experience working on a global team, capable of delegation, team building, and strategic leadership, driving alignment and consensus
Display highest levels of integrity
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with excellent presentations skills and demonstrated ability to be clear and concise when communicating with global stakeholders
Proven success communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels globally
Ideally has worked both as federal prosecutor and in-house in the compliance and investigations space.
Desired outcomes:
The successful candidate will help to mature the investigations program, but also identify and execute on new opportunities to grow and reach and impact of the program across all brands, including proactive risk identification and partnership with other teams to mitigate and remediate risk exposure.
The successful candidate will also manage diverse stakeholders with integrity, humility and and learners mindset.

There are a variety of job related factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. In addition to a competitive base salary, roles are eligible to be considered for an annual bonus and equity grant.
The base salary range for Connecticut and the NYC-metro area is $212,400-$259,600.
