Human Resources Manager

Location: Venice Beach, CA 
In-Office 4+ days per week

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources and Recruiting Manager to join our team. This individual will play a crucial role in shaping and executing our people strategy as we continue to scale. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fashion retail, strong leadership and recruiting skills, and a proven track record in HR management.


Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
  • Lead all recruiting efforts across the company in partnership with our Head of Recruitment
  • Ensure job descriptions and hiring criteria are aligned with store-level needs and company goals
  • Continuously source and attract high-performing candidates for Sales Associates, Leads, Assistant Managers, and Store Managers
  • Oversee and manage the end-to-end onboarding process, ensuring a welcoming and organized experience
  • Manage all onboarding paperwork, including offer letters, I-9s, tax forms, and employee agreements
  • Maintain employee files and documentation in accordance with compliance standards

Compensation, Benefits and Payroll
  • Manage and maintain a fair, consistent, and competitive compensation structure across all roles
  • Process biweekly payroll accurately and on time, including updates to pay rates, new hires, and terminations
  • Track and administer paid time off, sick leave, and other absences in compliance with company policy and legal requirements
  • Oversee employee benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and day-to-day support
  • Respond to and manage unemployment claims, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.

Employee Relations & Off boarding 
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for employee concerns, performance feedback, and workplace issues
  • Coach managers on handling employee relations professionally and in alignment with company values
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture across all locations
  • Support retention through recognition, engagement, and career development initiatives
  • Manage the offboarding experience, including exit interviews, final communications, and ensuring a respectful and smooth transition for departing employees

Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal labor laws, including wage, hour, and leave regulations
  • Keep company policies, procedures, and the employee handbook up to date with legal requirements
  • Manage and respond to unemployment claims with proper documentation and timely follow-up
  • Maintain accurate, confidential employee records in compliance with labor standards
  • Support and prepare for internal and external audits
  • Promote workplace safety and professional conduct through consistent policy enforcement

Strategic Collaboration
  • Work closely with regional and store managers to evaluate team needs, support training, assist with recruiting, and oversee performance reviews
  • Partner directly with the CEO and CFO to align HR strategies with business goals
  • Collaborate on key initiatives such as pension plans, incentive programs, training & development, interview standards, and performance management
  • Provide ongoing support to field leadership, ensuring a consistent and high-performing employee experience across all locations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Talent Acquisition or related field. 
  • Ideally 5+ years of experience in HR management, preferably in the retail industry. An understanding of retail, the functions within it and the skillsets to be a good salesperson and leader are required. 
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
  • Understanding of interviewing, hiring and managing candidate pipelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with HR systems such as ADP, Deputy, and Docusign.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
