Job Title: Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician - Third Shift
Department: LAX Station
Reports To: Station Manager
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing various maintenance functions on company aircraft performed by Aircraft Maintenance Technicians, Mechanics, and Apprentices in accordance with all company policies and procedures as well as all federal aviation regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and assist approved work by their Supervisors within the scheduled shift
- Ensure completeness of all assigned work documents and records
- Oversee on-the-job training during work shift to ensure proper qualification standards are met and maintained.
- Coordinate all activities with Maintenance Supervisors
- Research all pertinent information and material for work scheduled on aircraft.
- Oversee and Assist in the clean-up of the maintenance work area.
- Ensure that all maintenance areas meet good “housekeeping” standards.
- Always maintain positive tool control accountability & immediately report lost and/or found tools to management.
- Perform data entries as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with and implement the necessary procedures in the MEL/CDL/NEF Program
- Monitor the proper completion of aircraft records (e.g., logbook pages, work cards, non-routines, Engineering documents [EOs, EAs, etc.], and other related documents)
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all assigned work documents and records.
- Maintain familiarization with the training requirements necessary as defined in the AMTM and ensure training is current prior to performing the functions and tasks of this position
- Always follow (never deviate from) approved published procedures unless proper deviation is Authorized
- Must be able to pass a 10 Year Background check, and any location specific requirements.
- Must be able to obtain an Airport SIDA Badge and United States Custom Seal if required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- FAA-certificated mechanic with Airframe, Powerplant or both ratings (must be provided upon hire and or request) – must have a powerplant license.
- Recommended, two (2) years of experience performing maintenance in the following areas on Boeing 747-400 or 777F / 777-300 or similar type aircraft.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have the ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to give and receive verbal and written direction to team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- FAA-certificated mechanic with Airframe, Powerplant or both ratings (may be reviewed based on Location and position ) – must have a Powerplant license
- Recommended but not required, two (2) years of experience performing maintenance in the following areas on Boeing 747-400 or 777F / 777-300 or similar type aircraft:
- maintenance checks
- engine changes
- gear changes
- structural repairs
- flight control rigging
- component maintenance on Boeing 747-400 or 777F / 777-300 or similar type aircraft or successful Completion of accredited A&P mechanic training course
- When requested by management if applicable to your location, must obtain Engine Run / Taxi
- Must have at least one year of experience in a test cell environment and verified by adequate training records

- Must be adept and proficient on the use of technical data/manuals.
- Must be available for flexible hours and weekends.
- Must have excellent communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position requires extremely strenuous physical work involving objects in excess of 100 lbs. occasionally and in excess of 50 lbs. frequently. The Company may make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work may be performed primarily in a shop environment as well as in an Open Air Line Maintenance environment exposed to the elements. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
