Turner, Henningsen, Wolf & VanDenburg, LLP is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant – Calendaring to join our team in the Downtown Los Angeles office on a hybrid basis. This role is dedicated to managing critical court deadlines, auditing case dockets, and ensuring absolute calendaring accuracy across a high volume of civil litigation matters.
The ideal candidate possesses an understanding of California civil procedure, thrives under pressure, and has a sharp eye for interpreting court minute orders. You will serve as the firm's frontline defense against missed deadlines, directly supporting our attorneys in representing automotive manufacturers and dealerships.
Key Responsibilities

Master Calendaring: Calculate, input, and maintain all critical litigation deadlines (including discovery cuts, motion hearings, expert exchanges, and trial dates) in accordance with the California Code of Civil Procedure (CCP), local court rules, and individual judge procedures.

Docket & Minute Order Review: Daily monitoring and auditing of court dockets and online portals. Review incoming court minute orders, notices, and filings to extract and calendar new deadlines or updates immediately.

High-Volume Data Management: Efficiently manage calendaring profiles for a large portfolio of active consumer warranty / Lemon Law cases, ensuring real-time updates as case timelines shift.

Deadline Verification & Auditing: Run daily, weekly, and monthly calendar reports for attorneys. Actively cross-reference and audit firm calendars against official court records to preemptively resolve scheduling conflicts.

Team Collaboration: Communicate fluidly with handling attorneys, paralegals, and opposing counsel to confirm hearing dates, continuances, and filing timelines.
- Additional duties as assigned, i.e. filing and service of notices, pleadings, motions, etc.
Qualifications & Skills

Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of dedicated litigation calendaring or legal assistant experience, preferably within a high-volume insurance defense or civil litigation practice.

Legal Knowledge: Working knowledge of the California Code of Civil Procedure (CCP) rules regarding service, motion notice periods, and discovery timelines. Experience with Lemon Law or Song-Beverly Act litigation is a plus.

Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with centralized legal calendaring software/ case management systems

Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills with an absolute zero-tolerance mindset for data entry errors or missed dates.

Thrives Under Pressure: Ability to prioritize a heavy influx of data daily and pivot quickly when emergency court orders or trial continuances drop.
Pay Range: $28.85 - $31.25, hourly non-exempt
Compensation offered will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, skills and qualifications.
