Process Engineer - Plastics Manufacturing (Film and Compounding) - Base Salary to 110k/year - Los Angeles, CA
Our client, a plastic film manufacturing organization, is seeking a Process Engineer to support production operations, process optimization, and new product development within a manufacturing environment. This role is highly hands-on and requires direct involvement on the production floor to support process improvements and equipment performance.
Responsibilities:
Conduct processing trials including film extrusion, polymer compounding, and physical testing, followed by detailed technical reporting
Optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, product quality, and throughput during production and new product launches
Identify and implement process improvements to reduce scrap, minimize setup time, and lower production costs
Provide day-to-day technical support to production teams for troubleshooting and process stability
Support equipment upgrades, process modifications, and new equipment installations
Participate in process validation and product qualification activities
Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions to resolve production issues
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, and trial protocols
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering or related field) or equivalent hands-on experience
7+ years of experience in plastics manufacturing, specifically within one or more of the following:
Polymer compounding
Film extrusion
Plastics or polymer processing
Demonstrated experience working in a manufacturing/production environment with direct floor involvement
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies
Experience performing process optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives
Ability to create technical documentation including process procedures, reports, and validation protocols
Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
