Position Overview

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a motivated individual who wants to build a career in transportation technology and traffic systems.


You'll work alongside a Senior Field Technician, assisting with the installation, programming, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of traffic control and street lighting equipment. We provide training and support for candidates who are eager to learn and grow.


What You'll Do

  • Assist with installation, programming, maintenance, and repair of traffic control and street lighting systems
  • Learn to troubleshoot field equipment and diagnose technical issues
  • Read and interpret engineering plans and installation instructions
  • Support project installations and field service activities
  • Maintain accurate work logs and documentation
  • Track inventory, parts, and supplies
  • Assist with shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations as needed
  • Develop technical and networking skills through on-the-job training
Requirements

  • Technical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Computer skills; networking knowledge is a plus but not required
  • Ability to read technical documents or willingness to learn
  • Positive attitude and commitment to quality work

 Applicants must be able to perform and endure the following:

  • Lifting/Carrying: Frequently lift up to 40–50 lbs, occasionally up to 75–100 lbs.
  • Mobility: Frequent standing (up to 8?hr/day), walking, climbing (ladders, stairs, poles, up to 120?ft), bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling.
  • Coordination & Dexterity: Repetitive hand/eye coordination for fine tool use, wiring, operation of controls.
  • Vision & Hearing: Good near, distance, depth perception, color vision; effective listening and verbal communication
  • Vehicle & Equipment Operation: Sit and drive company vehicles, vans and travel, sometimes up to 50% of work time; sit for prolonged periods during transit.
  • Environmental Conditions: Work outdoors in varied weather (heat, cold, rain, wind, smoke, etc.), potentially hazardous conditions, confined spaces, trenches, or elevated platforms.
  • Protective Equipment: Proper use of PPE (hard hats, gloves, high-visibility gear, or hearing/eye protection as needed).
